This collection consists of various materials relating to the work of Francis Beedon. The collection includes records of the Michigan State Teachers' Club for the years 1943-1958; personal and constituent correspondence of Beedon's covering the years 1964-1968; special committee files from Beedon's work as a Representative covering the years 1963-1968, the largest amount of material dealing with the County Home Rule and the Wayne County Bill; and subject files for the years 1964-1968, covering topics such as constituent's concerns and problems, his analysis of his failure to be re-elected in 1968, court reorganization, education, open housing, copies of public messages on policy from Gov. Romney and Lt. Gov. Milliken, and legal briefs of a variety of House and Senate bills.

Francis W. Beedon, Democrat and State Representative from the 96th Congressional District from 1963 to 1968, was born in Forester Township, Sanilac County, Mich. in 1902. He received his A.B. from Albion College and his A.M. from the University of Wisconsin. He was a teacher for 23 years in the Muskegon public school system and 17 years as an instructor at Muskegon County Community College.
